"obsolete" code
«

code may be obsolete, e.g. because it does no longer fit to the current distribution's interface or is no longer maintained by its writer, or maybe even because it belongs to a finished PhD thesis it is an unfinished student project.
However, it may be still inspiring in showing what has been done, and how it has been done. It might also give useful code snippets, e.g. when re-implementing things that have already implemented earlier.
For example, the COSIMO simulation package, the FDD 3D/4D animation suite, the COCO/R parser writer, the Oberon Matlab interface, the oberon database and many more things, sometimes from ETH, sometimes from contributors ...
It might be interesting to find old things in such a repository, without warranties, without support, just maybe the code and if applicable, the associated diploma work or thesis etc.
Would it make sense to put that stuff on the net again ?

I agree. That's why we don't delete "obsolete" files but move them into the Obsolete folder in the aos repository. You can find these files at
https://www.ocp.inf.ethz.ch/svn/aos/Obsolete/
(use same login as you do for aos/ocp repository)
